The OSHA Final Rule: How to Stay Ahead of the Curve

Under a Final Rule, which has now been in effect for just one year, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) publicizes injury and illness data, requiring employers to electronically submit that data for posting to OSHA’s website. The OSHA Final Rule benefits all stakeholders: Employers get a push to reduce work-related injuries and illnesses; employees get explicit rights to report those incidents; the government gets better data to assist in improving resource allocation; and, finally, public health researchers get access to this data.
